WHAT TO SEE & DO

If the weather is not so good, the Macduff Marine Aquarium is a 15 minute drive from the park - it features a 40,000 litre tank containing many of the fish and species of sea-life which are native to the waters of the Moray Firth. There are also many educational displays and exercises to entertain the children.

You can join the Castle Trail at Duff House - a Country House Art Gallery located in nearby Banff. This fine 18th Century mansion houses a collection from the National Galleries of Scotland. The Castle Trail contains no fewer than 13 castles, stately homes and ruins, each with their own long and varied history. As well as Duff House, Fyvie Castle and Delgatie Castle are also on the trail and are within a 30 minute drive of the park.

Alternatively head west and visit the historic and picturesque Portsoy harbour or Baxters Highland Village at Fochabers.

Aberdeen - "The Granite City" is an hour's drive from the park, as is the town of Elgin. Further afield are Inverness and Loch Ness.

A short drive from the park and you can join Scotland's Malt Whisky Trail - a trail which visits 8 separate distilleries.

Dufftown, home to the Glenfiddich and Balvenie Distilleries, is known as The Malt Whisky Capital of Scotland and is only 50 minutes away by car.  Follow the trail during May or September and take part in the Whisky festivals. The festivals include a number of free events at the distilleries, shops and pubs along the way.
